On a windy overcast day Merritt Island beach volleyball advanced to the 2A Regional Semifinals with a 5-0 win that Heritage made much closer than the score would indicate.
The Mustangs set the tone with 2-0 wins on Line 2 (No.1 Bella Becker/No.9 Amber Ives) and Line 4 (No.4 Whitney Wisniewski/No.16 Ella Daniels).
But in the next wave, all three matches went to three sets.
Line 5 clinched the dual for Merritt Island when No.12 Addie Curb and No.3 Sadie McClellan won Set Three 15-11.
Line 1 (No.10 Reece Loggins/No.14 Delaney Petit) and Line 3 (No.5 Khloe Horton/No.15 Gena Walters) followed by clinching 2-1 wins with third set victories.
Merritt Island advances to face Bishop Moore at home on Thursday in the 2A Regional Semifinals
-Satellite also advanced to the 2A Semifinals with a 4-1 win vs Mount Dora and will play New Smyrna Beach on the road Thursday
-Vero Beach was a 5-0 winner vs Timber Creek and advances to the 3A Regional Semifinals where they will have a home match Thursday with Dwyer who beat Viera 3-2.
